To help you overcome this try not to grip the club too tightly. Enough pressure should be applied to allow you to control the club so you do not feel the club will slip in your fingers or it is so tight it will restrict wrist hinging during your backswing. Helping your aim - This simple routine can be followed on every shot. Having teed off stand at least 3 yards behind the ball and draw an imaginary line through your ball to the target. Pick a spot which should be no more than 30 inches/80cms in front of the ball and no less than 12 inches/30cms, make any practice swings whilst in this position behind the line of the shot. When ready aim the bottom front edge (the leading edge) of your clubface exactly at right angles to the imaginary line drawn from your spot back through the golf ball. Position your whole body parallel to this imaginary line. You are now ready to swing. As you swing, focus on sweeping the ball off the top of the tee peg sending it over the top of the spot you picked in front of the ball. Here's to longer more accurate shots. |
