The 2007 Real Open Golf final was held at the world famous Belfy course on 25 August 2007. First off, the golfers checked in and received goody bags, cards and starting hole numbers. Then bacon rolls were served to sustain them. In total 9 juniors, 3 women and 56 men took part.
It was then time to get down to some practice shots. R.O.G had hired half the driving range and competitors were able to practice from the grass, rather than the driving mats in the bays – a privilege usually reserved for the big boys! Plenty of driving, chipping and putting went on. Then we hit a shotgun start on the world famous Brabazon Course.
Once the game had ended, it was time for more sustenance. Our casual barbecue became a casual indoor buffet, due to uncooperative weather. But even this failed to dampen competitors' spirits.
R.O.G then presented a cheque for £1,000 to Mike Round, Chief Executive of The Golf Foundation (the money was raised by R.O.G in 2007).
The day was rounded off with prize giving, and a talk and Q&A session with top golf coach Gary Alliss
In short, an excellent time was had by all!
Here are those all important results...
