How does it work?

We can’t all wield a wood like Tiger – but we can all enter the Real Open Golf tournament, and maybe earn the chance to play in the Grand Final at The Belfry.

It really is open to every club player in the country. And with four handicap-based categories for men, women and juniors, every player has a real chance of golfing glory!

• Real Open Golf is open to any club player with an official handicap. • Take your best scores from club or county competitions, and enter them online. • The aggregate of your top four scores determines your position on the         leaderboard. • The top 100 players qualify for the Grand Final, held at the world-famous      Ryder Cup course, The Belfry. • Annual membership costs just £29.95 (adults) or £16.95 (juniors). • Join now, and claim a FREE Real Open Golf Pitchmaster, worth £6.99!

Real Open Golf works on the basis of you, the club golfer, playing qualifying competitions (Stableford and Medal) at your home club as usual.(scores can be entered from 1st April 2008,for members joining from now up to 31st December 2008).

You can also nominate a second club, and submit scores from county events which are handicap qualifying.

With Real Open, you simply upload your competition scores to our on-line national leaderboard, using a log-in name and six digit PIN number to access your profile. No computer? No problem! Just phone in your scores and these will be uploaded for you. We will then forward your position to your club on a fortnightly basis, via fax and/or email, or you can phone us on 0844 800 9733 for a real time score update.

The leaderboard will record the aggregate of your four best scores. For example, if your best rounds were -2, +2, -3, +1, this would show as a total of -2 for rounds played to date. Your score is always the nett of the CSS. For example, if you play off 5, and card 75 on a par 70 course with a CSS of 69, your score would be +1. A Stableford score of 37 points with a CSS 69 on a par 70 course would be entered as level.

Ultimately, just qualifying for the Real Open Golf Championship is a real achievement. You will be one of the one hundred most consistent and competitive players from around the country. Now is your chance to compete for the title on the legendary Brabazon course at the Belfry, which has hosted four Ryder Cups – more than any other course in the world! It has also played host to events such as the Quinn Insurance British Masters, Benson and Hedges International Open and the PGA Seniors Championship. Such high credentials are testimony to the quality of the golfing experience at The Belfry.

At the Grand Final, you will be treated to breakfast on arrival, free balls on the driving range, and access to a high level of PGA assistance upon request. You will play 18 holes on the Brabazon course from a shot gun start, and there will be professional photographers on hand to capture the magic of your day amid the beautiful surroundings of the Belfry. After the event, we will also host an informal barbecue, with prize giving by the after-dinner speaker, Gary Alliss.
